This weekend you will find me at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market on Saturday from 8am till 3pm! Custom orders available from now until March 6th.
Woo hoo! One of my favorite things about this market is that there is TONS of food..... last week I bought some yellow/orange/purple carrots and they were amazing. There is no comparison between home grown produce with supermarket produce. When I was little my grandmother had a huge garden and we always used to look forward to fresh carrots and fresh peas. Although I never really looked forward to the rows and rows of cabbage.... I must have not gotten my Ukranian Gene. (I still love perogies though!). But no one can make them like my Grandma did. I wish that I had paid more attention to exactly how she made them, along with all the other amazing things she baked and cooked for us. My Grandma has very advanced alzehiemers. This was a very sad year for me at Christmas dinner, because she doesn't recognize me anymore. I did go home and cry, because she had a big part in raising us kids and it's so hard to see the people you love get old. I have to say, I'm not looking forward to it myself!
I have some custom orders to finish tonight and some new things, but other than that it should be a pretty relaxing weekend. My Christmas break is almost over, and it was delightful. I am looking forward to next year's break, because I am in love! And school starts on Tuesday.... somewhat looking forward to it, somewhat not. I love school, but I don't love getting up early!
Like Tmro, when I get up at 6am. See you at the market!
