Fly me to the moon...

Or just to Thailand. Anywhere warm with palm tree's please! I am Very Excited because I leave this week for my mini-holiday from the snow and ice of Edmonton. I hope that when I get back a miracle will have taken place and green grass will be as far as the eye can see... (fingers crossed!) or maybe the weather will be just warm enough for walks around the lake. If not, I might just stay there. I have stocked up on my spf 45 sunscreen, summer clothing, books and movies to amuse myself on my 24+ hours flights.... and a new bathing suit.

Wondering if you can tell me which bathing suit pictured is the better buy?

One costs around $45, the other around $325. Can you guess which is which? The one on the left is from Etsy, the shoppe name is bettieB.  The one on the right is from Anthropologie. Yeah. I bought my new suit on Etsy a few weeks ago, and today while I was checking out Anthro I saw this one that looked a bit similar..... and then I saw the price! Ouch! It seriously doesn't cost that much to make a bathing suit. I am a little appauled. Makes me think twice about that lable on my clothing..... and glad that I buy handmade. 

I hope you will too. The designers on Etsy are just as cool as the ones in the stores, and chances are the prices are cooler too.

I was invited to take part in March Madness on a Blog called "Southern Flair" which hails from Baton Rouge! Every time I think of Louisiana all I can think of are sandwiches and alligators. They have amazing Po' boy sandwiches at Dadeo's here in Edmonton... but no alligators. I would LOVE to take a trip south and eat sandwiches and soak up some Cajun culture that we are sadly lacking in Canada. I would love to see a Zydeco band and take a river ride in the bayou.... but for now.... all I have is this blog. Which is amazing and has been added to my blogroll for sure!

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting another local Etsy seller in person! I thought I might need to bring presents for my cute little Nieces (one of whom I haven't met yet!) when I visit them this month in Asia..... after all, that's what all the favorite aunties do right? I am not about to relinquish my "Favored" position to some other auntie... (whom is really quite nice as well). (Just not the favorite).

I contacted gush4plush to make some custom cats for my girls, and they are so cute! gush4plush has been in my etsy favorites for awhile now, and I was very happy to have an occasion to SUPPORT HANDMADE! My favorite part about her work is the attention to detail. The eyes on the cats just pop right out at you! I love how she has melded a bit of cartoony-ness into her creations.
 

(They even have cute little Tails..... I wish I had a tail).

(If I could be any animal with a tail.... it would definitely be a Lemur).

Steak and Eggs

I was up late sewing last night and made some new STEAK Keyrings and some BRAND NEW egg keyrings too!!! They have heart shaped yolks and are so sweet. The new heart eggs are also part of the Majesty line for 2009 and can be seen on the new pouches, wallets, cosmetic bags and other goodies... YUM!

I am busy sewing up lots and lots of good stuff for my spring season.... come and see me at the Spring Butterdome Show! It's always fun and exciting...... May 1-3 at the Butterdome,  in the University Area of Edmonton.

Good Morning!

I know it's technically the afternoon, but it's morning to me since I stay up late... One of the first things I do when I get up is check my email, then check out Etsy to see how my sales are going. And this morning I signed in to see myself on the FRONT PAGE! Almost never happens, I always miss it and have to scout through photos on flickr of the front pages, or rely on Etsy friends sending me an email. But Hurrah! What a nice surprise to wake up to!

 

Also, I had a fantastic weekend.... I had some time to shop the malls and found some super bargains at Old Navy. I do really like Old Navy.... some of the clothes are "disposable" for sure but you can find some well made non-trendy items if you look hard enough. My favorite thing about Old Navy is that you can walk in with $100 and come out with at least 7 items. I can rarely walk into Gravity Pope or American Eagle or the Bamboo Ballroom or Sephora or Nokomis and say the same thing. Lets not even talk about Hollister because that store scares me.

  One new thing I found is this really cool Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Sanitizer from Bath and Body Works. The shop opened up last year at West Edmonton Mall, and all the yuppie housewives screamed with delight. Every time I go in it is JAM PACKED full of shoppers and I have never gotten a good look at everything they sell. Glad that my Mum pointed out this sanitizer that smells AMAZING.... it will come in Very Handy on my upcoming trip to Asia as THIS is what the bathrooms look like. And again... everything is priced very affordable.

Last week I received some AWESOME etsy purchases from a local seller, I will post about that very soon!
