Happy 2 Year Anniversary to me!

Today is my 2 year Etsy Anniversary!

I joined up June 19th, 2006 when Etsy was about a year old... and I didn't know a lot about it truthfully. It didn't take me long to realize how awesome it is! The search categories struck me as ingenious, how you can search for leather, canvas, vinyl, pretty much anything you can dream up you can search for. Low listing fee's... user friendly checkout.... you can link from your own website.... yeah. And of course.... when I started selling, I also started buying! There are so many great shops and lovely things to buy. I was honored to be a Featured Seller in May 2008, and I hope to continue to have etsy success! I am excited to see how the website grows as the years go by. I heart Etsy..... the bloody heart necklace in the pic is from Paraphernalia of the U.K. So many pretties in that shop......

Coincidently, a reported from a local paper called me today because she has heard about Etsy and is doing a feature on the crafty site... I am always excited to promote Etsy (and get free publicity). That should be in next Saturdays Edmonton Journal... I will keep you posted.

Tonight I am meeting friends for some rock out Thai food and some Cirque du Soleil..... I am super excited, I've been holding those tickets in my sweaty little hands since January! I love being entertained and I love the circus. I love my friends too, so it should be a good night.

So.. for the market in St. Albert this weekend I will have some new things and I will also be booth # 19, which is on the whole other side of the market from where I was last week. Thankfully, due to some space issues the market manager found me a better spot! I'm hoping for some sunshine too....

I'm pickled.....

Today while I was perusing the treasuries on etsy...I noticed I was included in two separate lists... with the same item! My new pickle key rings... that are so my new favorite thing. I love dill pickles... as long as I can remember my Grandmother would make them. From growing the cucumbers (Cukes to us Ukes), to canning them, it makes me think of her whenever I see one. She would also include generous cloves of garlic, yum. It is sad that part of growing old, also means that the food dies as well. No one will ever make Cheddar cheese peroghys like her, cabbage rolls, cornmeal, mini cheese croissants, molasses cookies or rabbit ears.... This also makes me think that wow.. everyone else's favorite foods must be dying as well. I mean, who really makes it they're quest to conquer dishes from "the old country"? And... it makes me slightly sad that as the amount of pre-packaged, pre-formed processed food lines the shelves.... tons of wonderful healthy recipes are buried 6 feet under.  Is it possible that I can save the pickle? Is it possible that I could also make pickles as good as my Grandmothers? I may just give it a try....

And... not meant to be a morbid post.... just my thoughts today.

Happy Friday the 13th!

Yes, I am that type of person who will watch theme movies on certain days. Today would have been the PERFECT day to watch... Friday the 13th... but I just kind of forgot about it. I haven't seen that one... and truthfully I haven't seen very many horror movies. My mind is the master of scaring myself, because it just repeats the scary parts over and over and over again until I am paralyzed with fear! For example.... "Signs". Scared to death. Almost too scared to walk from the car to the house. (I dropped my keys halfway and just about peed my pants. I think the scariest thing I will be watching tonight is Jeopardy instead. But, hopefully everyone else in the world is having a Freaky Friday of their own....

Hope to see everyone tmro at the St. Albert Farmers Market..... 10-3pm! Lets hope it doesn't rain........ until I get home........

St. Albert Market Starts This Weekend!

Alright! I have been sewing this week and I will have tons of sweet things for you to peruse
On Saturday at the St.Albert Farmers Market! I am pretty excited for the season to start, and truthfully relieved to be busy again. The St.Albert market has a great reputation, one of the best in the area and it will be fun to meet new vendors too. I am a necklace FIEND and craft shows are great places to pick up unique pieces. In fact, I must do a post on the new ones I have gotten lately.... at one show I picked up at least 8 necklaces and I know I have gotten more since then...... yeah.

How do you get to this market? I am not too sure.... St.Albert isn't that big and it's in the downtown area. It's huge, so if you find your way downtown, you can't miss it. Well, HERE is a map for those that get lost really easy. (Like me) It runs from 10am till 3pm, which is a nice change from markets that start at 9! Ahhh... I can feel that extra hour of sleep. Mmmmmm.

I will hopefully have some new things that are great, so see you there! Please note... if you happen to decide to come down on a rainy day where it is cold and "blustery" remember that anyone who brings me a hot chocolate will get a look of gratitude, a huge thank you and 10% off.

For all the mothers out There...

I know I am not a mom, and the joy of motherhood hasn't been bestowed upon me.... and I have not brought forth the miracle of life from within my loins.... BUT...

If you are ever at the movie theater, and are waiting in line to buy your tickets and your teenage son turns around and grabs the breast of the woman waiting in line behind you... I have some advice. Why not, oh I don't know... offer an apology on the behalf of your child? Or, maybe possibly ask/force him to apologize for his actions? He is obviously not handicapped/special needs in any way so the unsaid forgiveness rule does not apply here. Instead of cuffing him across the back of the head and asking "What's the matter with you?" in a gruff/nasty tone of voice... why not ask yourself what is the matter with YOU? I know that you cannot control the actions of your child,  and you may not have to like the actions of this child but is it too much to ask you to recognize that a fault was made and try in a small way to offer an apology? Is your embarrassment so great that you choose to ignore that someone was sexually assaulted by your child right before your very eyes? I just have to say that that breast was attached to a human being. If this is the Joy of Motherhood that everyone is talking about, I am so glad that it hasn't been bestowed upon me.

A little Bruised...

So.. to all my loyal customers I must mention that I will not be at the Downtown Market this Saturday! I know that I was planning on it, but due to a rather badly sprained ankle I can't make it. It's sad... I was really looking forward to being there, as I love the Downtown market and the other vendors that will be there. If you make it down there, stop by Miss Dishy's booth and say hi! She makes the cutest little plush animals with her limitless imagination. Also, if you buy a tart from The Queen of Tarts think of me, as the lemon coconut tarts are amazing and my favorite.

This week was sorta depressing, since I couldn't walk really, and crutches make me super tired! But now, I am relaxing in front of the T.V watching Mata Hari.... an old Greta Garbo film and drinking Diet Cherry Chocolate Dr.Pepper. I know.... how do they do it? It really is amazing, and it makes me remember going to the "Fancy" movie theater in Bangkok. Where a movie is only $3, and you get to sit on leather recliners. I ordered a chocolate coke, and yes... it was pretty amazing. The only problem was that it was "The Bee Movie" and it would have been SO much better without Jerry Seinfeld in it. I have a PILE of vinyl in front of me, to make more squirrels, hedgies, lightening bolts.... I have some new key-rings to update to the shop and they are so sweet.... mmmm

Another plus and minus of being out of commission this week is that I have had a lot of time to shop online! Ouch.... but stay tuned because I have a Print Gocco coming my way, Octopus Arms and a sweet Koi Necklace.......
