One of my favorite things about the month of October is that it's just a little creepier than most months. It gets darker at night.... There are leaves crunching under your feet... The colors purple and black have a revival... and there are TONS of creepy/scary movies on T.V! BUT my most favorite thing about the month of October is that you get to wear costumes! I love to dress up and put on a costume, any excuse to dress up and I am there. In fact, if I could have a job where I got to dress up every day I would be thrilled. Or if I could be a Movie Star and dress up that would be OK too. (I tend to be a bit theatrical at times). Anyhow, this year I was pretty tame and dressed up as a One Eyed Monster. I bought this cute hood from My Sweet Lovable Goods who is an Edmonton artist and right around nice girl. Check out her ETSY shop because there are tons of sweet, lovable goods.
And.... I also had a chance to use my super awesome Octopus cake pan! The second that I saw if I knew it was meant for me... as I have become severely infatuated with octopus's and random sea creatures. I feel like a winner in this case, because even though I spent money on something a little silly... well.... just listen and tell me if I am a smarty pants or not. They were selling my Octopus on-line at Williams and Sonoma, one of my favorite shops when I am in Calgary. But, I waited too long and I missed it! They stopped selling them on-line and I was so sad. I checked on E-bay and luckily found someone selling one for a good price. However.... during the bidding war a buyer started bidding against herself... jacking up the price to almost double what it is worth! (Plus $25 shipping). Ack. I chose not to bid, and instead called the Calgary location and asked if they had any left. They did. They shipped it to me 3 days later for a super price. And that is how I won. Tell me... was that not resourceful? I never thought to call the store and inquire! Anyhow, I served up a few tentacles for dessert yesterday and everyone said it was awesome and delicious too. MMmmmmm Octopus.
Hope everyone had a sober and safe Halloween too! OOO XXX
