Canada Day Weekend...

Everybody Everybody!

I just got home from the Market today, and wow! It was so windy, I am lucky that my tent didn't blow away! My team managed to put it away before catastrophe, and also got everything else tucked away before it started raining. I was lucky to have my sister with me, an extra set of hands helped so much, and it's not as much fun doing it alone! I keep asking her to come and work for me, so maybe one day she will take enough pity on my blistered fingers, and bleary eyes and join the Majesty Team. (Dreams, of course). I had some other friends come and visit, which made my day. I love when I see faces that I know in my booth, the support that I have been getting is amazing! I also love it when the regulars come by to see what I have that's new. Would you believe that I didn't sell even one Sparkly Glitter Vinyl Pouch this week? And that's the newest thing that I am the most excited about..... you just can't account for taste. Unless I have bad taste. Which could be true.... I wear dead skunks on my head so that explains it.

I am busy getting ready for the Stop & Shop Show which is happening soon! Too soon. I am trying to figure out how much product I will need to bring, and also deciding if I am able to do the market on that day too. It might be a stretch! But I think that it will be an amazing show, there are so many talented artists coming and I am excited to shop myself!

I am also cat sitting for the next while..... and I think the cat hates me. She used to like me before, but I don't know what happened! She hisses at me and swipes at me! Luckily, the cat looks like it weighs 5 pounds, and my own special cat is about 20. So I am not afraid of this little guy, I could blow her over like the big bad wolf. I think she will warm up to me when she realizes that I am the sole food provider. I actually think she doesn't like my skunk hat. It does have a bit of a skunky oder when it's locked up in an enclosed space.... maybe it's a territorial thing. I plan to move it to the trunk of my car, because I don't want the cat to hate me!

Plans for the Canada Day weekend?

Not really... I bought a rabbit at the market and am excited to try out a recipe. It has Dijon mustard and Lindon berries. I have been wanting to try out rabbit meat for awhile, but now that I actually have the "carcass".... it's kind of gross. Oh well.... I think it's like the first time you mix up hamburger meat. Yuck. I plan to make it for Sunday dinner.... so I will post about how it is!

Dream come true...

Last Saturday I had a great market day. I set up a bit differently, and included a new rack that I bought the day before. I had great sales, and the more people that buy Majesty goods.... the happier I feel. It is so great to have the support from so many great customers that come into my booth. I love seeing the regulars, and I love repeat customers too! I also have great neighbors too... so very nice and considerate to each other. New for this Saturday coming up I have some BRAND NEW SPARKLY RED GLITTER VINYL pouches!! Oh my... they are just so awesome and retro-looking. And I am running low on my cosmetic bags so I should have some sewn up for then. I am moving tmro, so my production level might be low this next couple of days.

I went to the Valley Zoo with my two favorite girls this past weekend too. It was about 20 years since I had been there, so I figure that you need to live a little. It seems that in the 20 years... most of the animals have died. There just aren't really any to speak of. I seriously think that Edmonton needs to add some funding into the zoo... Calgary puts us to shame. In fact, even the pet store puts us to shame. There was a big pen of guinea pigs though. Seeing them all in a group was kind of neat... kind of Hitchcockish. I rode the carousel with my niece too- and it was so funny! She kept making me hold onto her head for some reason. ??? It was so funny... because my sister is trying to take a decent photo, and every time I took my hands off her head she would freak a little. I just don't understand, but maybe it was a game. Oh, that's right, a power struggle with all the other little girls in line. She probably bet them that she could get me to do anything that she asked....

So many neat things arrived in the mail this week!

First off, I had some pendants arrive from etherealgirls that I loved at first glance. I ordered one for my sister as a going-to-Bangkok-gift, and one for me. I loved the colors, and the snail shell with the number 9 was unique. I was wary about the design.... sometimes you buy things with image transfer done and they rub off. This one is super high quality... and it's the perfect size too.  There are just so many on the site that I really love. But, I have a serious necklace addiction so it has to stop somewhere. (Maybe next month).

I also had a dream come true this week! A few years ago I was at a farmers market just outside of Calgary. And there was a man there selling coon-skin caps. Just like Davey Crockett used to wear. And.... way in the back there was a SKUNK HAT. I had to try it on of course, and of course I fell in love with it. IT was so super cool... but.... I was really really poor and had just gotten a credit card in the mail that week. IT was decision time. Should I do it? Should I be responsible? Sadly... I made what I thought was the right decision and let it go. Now... 3 years later I live a life of regret. It was so sad.... I just don't know how I lived that long without it. I put a lot of careful thought into it....and I ordered myself a custom made Skunk Hat of my very own.  Now where can you buy such a thing? I'll tell you. Chichester inc is a website that will make you a skunk hat of your very own too! Not only awesome stripy skunk hats.... but they also sell hot pink rabbit skins, taxidermy sharks, narwhal tusks, and fox and mink "Scrunchies".  How about that... eh? (That deserved an "eh", you know it). Here is a gratuitous photo of yours truly wearing her awesome skunk hat.

Now.... are you asking the question of why I make VINYL goods that are VEGAN if I am wearing real fur? Good question. I believe that everyone has a choice in how they live they're lives and that even though we don't agree, we MUST respect them and they're decisions. I happen to like fur. I eat animals. They taste great. But if you have a differing opinion... that's OK.

Wow! Super Amazing!

One thing I have noticed about G.P.S is that it isn't always the most effective tool. It actually scares me when it barks out directions! Today my sister and my niece joined me on my DAY OFF WORK and came to the store fixture place. Needless to say it was an adventure, because the G.P.S directions were so weird. Once we got there, we were like... oh, we could have just taken this one road and turned once and been there sooner. Sigh. Anyhow, I spent some cash and got a super-amazing fixture for my booth. IT will look so much more professional in my "Cubicle" on Saturday, and even at the Stop and Shop show happening in July. I am so excited to get up tmro and show it off!

I have some new "Calamity Jane" pouches this week... and some new messenger bags too- soon as I get off this computer and finish them!  (I know that I already mentioned the western bags, but I love them so humor me).

Get Excited!

Some things that I am excited about this week....

My new Canon Camera.... which takes lovely pictures and has a neat flip out screen so I can take pictures of myself. I like to buy strange hats and then take pictures of myself wearing them. Doesn't everybody? But mostly I take pictures of vinyl bags. Rather boring actually.

The "Stop and Shop" show taking place here in Edmonton in July... more on that later!

Rainbow Twizzlers?.... how did I not know about these?   When I saw them I was completely amazed. Thoughts of gingerbread houses and edible jewelry started running through my mind. I don't know, but changing the color of the candy just really did it for me. I haven't eaten mine yet, it's just too pretty to eat them. I will succumb sooner or later though.... yes... candy doesn't last long in my pocket.

And new Vinyl bags this weekend! I shall have some more messenger bags, and some cute little western pouches which are a tribute to "Calamity Jane" of course.

And Excited to spend Tomorrow with my cute little Niece and my sister too. I think we might check out the Zoo here in Edmonton, although I don't really agree with animals in captivity. It is sad if they are not cared for properly. But of course, if the zoo just had pictures of animals they probably wouldn't make very much money. Hey! I have just had a great idea... is there a wax museum for animals? That would be a great alternative... hmmm....

Happy Friday everyone....

Today will be a great day because I can finally afford to get my car washed. For some reason, the birds in my neighborhood have mutated beyond belief and are much larger than all the other birds. Thus being the reason for the car wash. The bigger the bird, the bigger the......

And another Market day tomorrow on 104th street... hopefully I will get more work done tonight and have a few more messenger bags, and some new pouches.

And... no sign of "The Hat" yet.... sigh.

Fearless Zippers...

Today Rocks because I found a new supplier who has supplied me with lots and lots of zippers. Lots. Which is a good thing because I so often have to stop working and run out and get more zippers.... which is really boring and there are too many things to distract me in the shops. The funny part of it is that the staff that work at this place, look like they have the life sucked out of them. I don't know if maybe they just don't get along, or maybe fabric isn't they're passion, but if I worked there I would be super excited every day. ??? It actually was so bad that it made me not want to shop there ever again. Would it kill Customer Service Associates to fake it a little and smile and pretend that they are interested in serving you?

I finished "The Milk Chicken Bomb" and I have to say that I am quite tempted to make a Milk Chicken Bomb of my own. It sounds completely devious, and so disgusting. but the problem is that if you did in fact make a Mil Chicken Bomb and then leave it somewhere to explode.... do you really want to be there when it does? And if you aren't there... how do you know that it ever really did? (I guess the smell).

Anyhow.... I am off to sew up some more Messenger Bags.......

The Pirates and the Communists...

I had a pretty good market day this Saturday... the sun was shining, it wasn't too windy, I sold some bags... it was an ok day. Some people that I work with stopped by my booth, and it's always great to see the support from my co-workers! Now hopefully they understand why I am so tired and grumpy when I get to work in the mornings... (because I sew all night). Yes... it's true, I have no social life whatsoever. In fact, I tried to go and see a movie, (by myself of course) and it was so busy that I left and went for a walk instead. I just could not sit in front of that sewing machine. I decided that I would rather walk for 2 hours in the rain, than work all night. Because you see, if I am at home and not working, I feel guilty.

But--- there are quite a few people sporting some handbags that I admire... it turns out they are from Le Sport Sac and have these really cute Japanese figures all over them. I liked them so much that I checked them out, and wow.... decided that I don't need one for $160 American dollars. I have never spent that much on a handbag. I am Louis Vitton's worst nightmare. I hate that things cost so much.... and they are usually ugly anyhow. Not that I am commenting on those brown Vitton handbags or anything... but I don't think that handbags need to cost $500-$2500. That actually makes me sick. This weekend a friend of mine was wearing a really great shirt, and it looked so great on her that I complimented her on it and she said it was from zellers and like, $15.00. ??? How would I have known that? It is proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money to look great.

Oh... and am I the last person in Edmonton to ever go into Audrey's bookstore on Jasper? I thought it was a used bookstore, and being a book-snob myself never went in. But I thought that since I am trying to save money and not spend it, I would look at used books. Maybe not buy one, but just looking would be a big step for me. Anyhow... it's NOT used books... it's the biggest selection that I have ever seen! There are amazing sections... and the history section is so huge!!! It's book heaven! There are two floors of books! I was on overload... I just could not comprehend. I managed to get out with only two books... one is called "The Milk Chicken Bomb" and it is a Canadian book... the other is called "The Pirates in an Adventure with the Communists" and It is really funny. And I did order a book on Rasputin, and am excited to learn all about the man who was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow, most people looked at him with terror and with fear, but to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear.

Don't shoot the Messenger...

Alright, now everyone can stop complaining! I didn't want to do it, but you made me do it, and I feel awful. Awfully tired from staying up until midnight every night this week sewing up some MESSENGER BAGS for this weekend's sale! For those of you who don't sew, it is "sew" time consuming to draft pattern and make a whole new product, (at least for me) so no one is allowed to complain anymore! But they are lovely and I am pleased with how they are coming out It's like I am a Mom, and have little Vinyl babies that get adopted every week. (Except that sounds really weird, try not to judge me on that one ok? thanks) I also have some passport sleeves up for grabs, for those of you who are traveling soon.... I wish I had some photos to post for you to view but my computer is still broken, and I haven't bought a new one yet.

Otherwise... I am hoping to go and see the new Pirates movie on Saturday night, everyone I know has seen it already so I will have to go by myself. Which I don't really mind that much, I just hate sitting next to strangers in a theatre. But normally I like strangers, really... just in the daylight and more than 6 inches away from me.

And… I finally got to give a friend the portrait I ordered for her from ETSY. I found an amazing artist on the site that does portraits of celebrities. I bought one of Audrey Tautou, of course, from the cult film “Amelie”. One of my favorites. I asked her if she did custom work, and if she would be able to do one of my friend and her fiancé for a wedding present. When the portrait arrived, I was blown away! I was so pleased with the way it came out; I am tempted to get my own done. But that would be really conceited I think. It’s a Good Thing I am really conceited! So if you have a few minutes and you love art, please check her shop out. It is called Almost Famous, and I love quite a few of her works, and they are all so well done. I am so envious of people that can paint portraits, I have tried in the past and my eyes and noses look more like growths and sores. SO Maybe I should try painting zombies…… to be continued.

Lucky

Hi Guys!

I spent last weekend at a Kids camp which was so much fun! WE made marshmallow guns, and of course had a marshmallow fight. We also had a super big air gun, which we used to shoot one of the other counselors with Chef Boyardee. It was hot and exausting and the mosquito's were out in a frenzy and I am looking forward to next year! It is my favorite activity all year, and the kids are so great. I love how some of them get so grumpy, and other ones are like Charlie Bucket and just happy to be there.

And..... (I ordered my hat) more on that later.....

This weekend I will be at the market, and hopefully the promised messenger bags will be for sale this week. I am quite slow, so please be kind to me! I don't normally make them, because there are already so many awesome vinyl artists that do... it seems redundant. But in this world it's either kill or be killed... maybe sell or be sold? Anyhow... there is a demand so I need to fill that demand. In my mind everything I say makes sense, by the way. I will also have some pretty passport sleeves to sell this weekend, so come down and check them out!
